Life on Mars – Canada’s Premiere David Bowie Revue
“TURN AND FACE THE STRANGE”David Bowie 1947 – 2016
Singer, song writer, poet, painter, rule breaker, game changer. For nearly five decades David Bowie helped define our universe through his music. He pushed the boundaries, blurred the lines, held up a mirror and reflected back to us the state of our culture, our world and most importantly, ourselves.
David Bowie was a musical trailblazer. He influenced countless musicians for more than four decades. He has challenged us musically, visually enthralled us, politically awakened us, pushed us to accept the seemingly unacceptable and consistently surprised us with his transformative, artistic prowess.
Established in 2004, Life on Mars presents the genius of Bowie across the decades. Maintaining the integrity of the music, note for note, LoM presents a two hour retrospect, a musical reinvention of classic Bowie hits; uniquely arranged into a soaring, emotional, musical, concert experience of astonishing nuance and power.
Life on Mars is not an imitation of Bowie, but an emulation of his music and a celebration of his spirit. Singer Kevin Connelly fuses the essence of Bowie’s vision and charisma with his own electrifying talent and captures with mesmerizing accuracy, the mystery, the moves and the magic of Bowie himself; backed by the incomparable Heroes band, this is a performance unlike any other.
Magnetic… Unforgettable … Life on Mars: the imagination of a superstar, the music of a lifetime. Experience it.
What They’re Saying….
- “Kevin Connelly is stunning: he can play the rock star with remarkable grace because he is one. His voice is potent and flexible, his moves are magical. He has this way of calmly holding an attitude as though something were about to happen, it’s very dramatic. And something does happen. He and his band deliver, one after another, solid interpretations of brilliant Bowie songs- all the greats- some in fresh arrangements, others fairly faithful, all led by Kevin’s powerful performance that is at turns tribute, but offers unique interpretation. Very theatrical: Kevin’s a true entertainer.” – Vincent de Tourdonnet
- “I have had Bowie in my head and ears ever since seeing Kevin essentially channel him to perfection.” – Sarah Stone
- “Went to see Kevin Connelly channel the Thin White Duke…. at the Randolph Academy with Life on Mars…. Kevin and the band were OUTSTANDING!” – Lawrie Ingles
- “Amazing show guys, blew my sparkly 70’s jumpsuit right off!” – Steve Frise

HEROES – Band Members
Kevin Connelly (Writer/Creator, Lead Singer ‘Bowie’)
Kevin Connelly is a veteran Canadian singer/songwriter, actor and musical theatre writer. Kevin has national and international recordings to his credit, as well as several tours, playing in Canada’s largest venues.
Recognized for his outstanding and versatile voice, Kevin was the founding member of the Toronto new-wave band New Regime, which released two albums under the RCA label, the self-titled *New Regime* (1985) and *The Race * (1987)*. *New Regime released half a dozen singles and a number of music videos, headlined in major venues and opened for bands such as Level 42, Thomson Twins and Platinum Blonde. In 1990 Kevin released the critically acclaimed solo record *Son of the Sun*, which included writing and co-writing credits with fellow Canadian artists such as Jeff Healey and Amanda Marshall.
As an actor, Kevin has participated in many stage productions, including the lead roles in *A Christmas Carol* and *Job and the Snake *(PM Productions). He has also acted in film and television, notably in *Dark Night* and *Nikita*. Out of Kevin’s interests in combining music with theatre he wrote and composed *Burn*, an original rock opera based on the life of Joan of Arc. *Life on Mars* is his second musical theatre project.
Chuck Brown (Guitars)
Chuck is a classically trained musician, composer and artist. Having played professionally for twenty years, Chuck has performed and toured with a variety of acts. He has shared billing with such acts as The Commitments, April Wine, Burton Cummings and Joan Osbourne, and was the guitarist for Garden Brothers Circus 2004 tour.
Chuck continues to play and record with original acts, and performs in and around the Toronto area regularly.
Tanya Godinho (Backing Vocals, Actor)
Tanya was born and raised in Toronto. A well-rounded performer, she completed her theatrical training at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College, where Tanya composed the theme for Theatre Erindale’s production of “Once Upon Our Time.”
In an ongoing effort to combine her many artistic desires, Tanya has made several lead appearances in local musical theatre productions, including PM Productions’ Come Away, Purim Day, Job and the Snake, and Rebecca Brown’s Seder, featured during the Ashkanaz Festival.
One of Tanya’s trademark qualities as a singer is her chameleonic ability to transform her sound – genre to genre and from one note to the next. You can often find Tanya around town, tearing down the house at a jam night or in the studio working on something new.
Jon James (Bass Guitar)
Jon has performed and written with a multitude of recording acts and songwriters during his twenty years of playing experience. As one of the original members of RCA recording act New Regime, Jon went on to write and perform with many independent projects throughout the 80’s and early 90’s.
Most recently seen as a key member of the rock outfit Britton (MaGaDa/BMG Europe), Jon toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, opening for such bands as Saga, Kingdom Come, Peter Frampton and Ozzy Osbourne. Jon brings a sound and feel of bass playing that is reminiscent of John Entwistle or Jack Bruce, and this solid approach adds yet another dimension to this already exciting band.
